You definitely captured the essence of this difficult year. Thank you for sharing, and showcasing Marlyn. Wow, running more than one Marathon in a week! ! I’m hoping these tragedies will lift us up to a new level and bring on a better year for 2021. Peace and empathy for us all!

The stories of dolphins saving drowning humans are proof of that, as well as inter-species and intra-species adoptions of orphaned infants. And any dog owner will attest to his/her pet’s sensitivity to the emotions of the owner.

In fact, empathy towards animals is as important as feeling empathy towards humans. A lot of study has gone into animal behaviour, and proven most species have, and can show, empathy towards other animals, even humans.

And Liv, thanks for adding your personal perpective–am so glad to hear confirmation that autism does not have to mean a lack of empathy!

And I agree with the parent of the child with autism; our youngest is on the spectrum and I've never met a more deep-feeling, empathetic child.
I thought of you this morning as I was uploading my own post on empathy:http://blog.livlane.com/2013/01/key-to-success/. 🙂 Hope you are well!

Very interesting viewpoint for a blog. Keep up the good work, nice to see someone spreading some positivity and advocating such a vital human characteristic which it seems is on the decrease.Food for thought for my blog:
